PX Software expands

PX Software, the UK subsidiary of specialist distribution house Phoenix Software, has expanded its product range, offering three new brands as part of its comprehensive security software portfolio.

PX Software specialises in supplying a wide range of software products, focusing on those that are niche and aimed at specific vertical markets. To that end, the addition of Quick Heal, Avira and GData to its portfolio have ensured that the company is a one-stop security solution provider.

“With the ever-increasing rates of fraud, phishing, and other online risks, all computer users require security software,” explains Simon Campbell-Young, CEO of Phoenix Software. “As with all other products, there are many brands available in the market, and with the addition of these we are ensuring that our customers have access to high-quality protection - whatever flavour they prefer.”

Quick Heal Technologies is India's leading provider of Internet security tools and is a leader in anti-virus technology on the subcontinent. The company is actively involved in the research and development of anti-virus software to ensure it stays ahead of the multitude of threats found online.

“Quick Heal Technologies has established the Quick Heal product family as an industry benchmark for computer security. Quick Heal is an award winning security product, which has been installed in corporate, small business and consumers' homes around the world, protecting their computers from viruses and other malicious threats,” says Campbell-Young.

Avira's AntiVir product has been a player in the security world for some time, with its status booming in 2008 as a result of its remarkably strong detection rates. The program offers anti-spyware protections, scanning technology that can crack open "locked" files, improved internal security to prevent AntiVir's files from being maliciously altered, and one-click threat removal.

“Avira is one of the most widely used anti-virus programs in the world, with over 100 million users worldwide. The company periodically 'cleans out' the virus definition files, by replacing specific signatures with generic ones, which results in a general increase in performance and scanning speed, critical to a good security solution,” explains Campbell-Young.

GData may not be a household name among consumers, but it's very well known in the security community. Founded in 1985, this German company specialises in security software solutions for professional.

“Features such as self-learning fingerprinting and white-listing accelerate the test-winning protection of this program so that PC performance remains completely unaffected,” Campbell-Young explains.

“All three of these companies provide security solutions of the high quality we insist on in our product range. All of these products perform well in independent tests and have a history of excellence worldwide, and as such, are great additions to our comprehensive security portfolio.”
