"PyroGenesis Software, a software development company founded by Johann Ungerer, has the quality team and experienced leadership necessary to generate the performance required for the growth envisaged."
This was the commentary released in an interview conducted with Ungerer in January 2007. Now, 12 months later, it has been my pleasure to spend some time catching up with this unassuming, team-focused entrepreneur.
"In what has been our most challenging and at the same time exciting year, we have experienced growth beyond our immediate forecasts. Our commitment to understanding client requirements has resulted in the delivery of successful projects, which has in turn resulted in the development of sustainable business relationships," says Ungerer.
"At the beginning of the 2008 financial year, we set targets, which we knew would be challenging and would require serious commitment from the PyroGenesis team. We believe in ourselves and are passionate about our mission statement, which is to develop world-class software solutions for focused vertical markets through a continued effort to understanding our customers' requirements. Our continued commitment to the core values of quality, budget and time-to-market drive us to consistently deliver.
"By providing a comfortable yet challenging working environment for our staff, we encourage a culture of productivity and job satisfaction. This culture fosters individual growth for all staff, which in turn relates to the team commitment required to achieve our goals.

With this in mind, it is not a surprise that we were able to achieve 300% growth, but a reward," Ungerer added.
What about the 2009 financial year?
"We have the momentum to take PyroGenesis Software to greater heights, but are by no means resting on our laurels. We have once again set challenging targets for new, annuity-based revenue and have some exciting plans to expand on areas of our business that we have identified as having scope for growth and increased market share.
"In order to accommodate this growth, we will be relocating to larger premises in Bryanston. Commitment to our current client base remains a priority and through proven development processes, we will add value by seamlessly integrating innovative development solutions and carefully selected third-party products into new and existing applications, with minimal disruption to our customer. In doing this, we will ensure the continued and appreciated support from our client base.'
