Q-KON has released a HotZone access and distribution solution.

According to the brand, the offering is aimed at entrepreneurs who want to leverage connectivity for their businesses, adding that the solution is straightforward to implement and set up, and offers flexibility based on user requirements.

"As the business owner, you can select your profile online once the satellite terminal is installed and functional," explains Juan Prinsloo, senior executive for products at Q-KON. "Monthly base bundles and top-ups can be purchased online without call centre intervention, and allows for total freedom to operate your business according to your own requirements."

The StarLight HotZone works on a franchise basis and consists of a VSAT terminal, access controller with a printer and a keypad, and comes with a pre-configured 4Mbps downlink speed and 512Kbps uplink speed, says the brand.

According to Prinsloo, the offering is great for lodge owners, hotel managers or campus managers who want to allow people on the premises to use voucher-based Internet with minimal complexity. "Vouchers are issued by selecting the required data package on a keypad and the voucher is printed for the guest to use," he adds.

Once a site is activated by the Q-KON Networks Operating Centre (NOC), the franchisee will engage with Q-KON to purchase the prepaid data bundle using the online user portal and can then distribute Internet to patrons and guests, says the company. Guests can buy vouchers and will be issued with an access code and PIN, which they need in order to access the HotZone.

"Our intention with this solution offering is to broaden access to connectivity across the continent and to address the requirement by entrepreneurs for quick, hassle-free, reliable and cost-effective connectivity," Prinsloo continues. "We believe we have achieved our objectives with this release."
