Following months of expectation, the much anticipated Alpha unit of the Unified Exchange 1000 Series all-in-one branch office networking solution (UX1000) is now available exclusively through Q-KON SA.
Developed by Network Equipment Technologies (NET), one of only five Microsoft Lync certified Survivable Branch Appliance (SBA) manufacturers globally, the UX1000 is a single box, multifunction appliance targeted at businesses with up to 400 users.
The UX1000 is a Multi-Service Business Gateway (MSBG) and SBA for Microsoft Lync 2010 deployments. It is custom-built to address the unified communications requirements within small-to-medium operations.
It is designed to deliver the combination of networking, gateway, SIP trunking and survivability/business continuity features.
The arrival of the Alpha unit in South Africa has been eagerly awaited - particularly due to the successful roll-out of the UX2000, a high-end, high-capacity solution ideally suited for large deployments.
“The UX1000 is a scaled down version. It has the same features, but with a lower port count and lower processing capacity. Another significant feature is the fact that it comes in both a Microsoft certified and non-Microsoft certified format. This means it can be deployed in either environment, adding value to Microsoft-centric application as well as hosted PBX and IP-PBX deployments,” says Tjaart de Wet, MD, Q-KON SA.
Q-KON SA is a certified Gold Distributor of NET products, which resulted in South Africa also receiving an Alpha unit - the only one outside the USA and UK.
“The idea is that when the solution is generally available to the market in November, our customers would have already tested their applications, loaded software and can immediately generate business to gain early competitive advantage. The technology is more cost-effective for smaller businesses and its flexibility makes it a good fit for the local market,” adds De Wet.
Q-KON SA will feature at the Microsoft Tech.Ed Africa 2011 exhibition, scheduled to take place in October, in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. The company will use the opportunity to create more awareness around the UX1000 and its relevance to local businesses.
