Q-KON South Africa will attend Microsoft's annual TechEd Africa 2013 and will debut the Sonus SBC 5100 Session Border Controller and the latest version of the Red Box Quantify Recording Suite in front of IT professionals and developers.

The technology event, scheduled for 16 to19 April at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre in Durban, focuses on Microsoft existing and soon-to-be-launched services and technology.

As a Sonus Authorised Distributor, Q-KON SA is ideally positioned to support partners looking to help their customers, large and small, to simplify their infrastructure and reduce costs by moving to SIP trunking and SIP-based unified communications. And, with a ten-year relationship with NET, recently acquired by Sonus, Q-KON is well-versed in both the customer needs and partner opportunities in these rapidly growing markets.

Sonus has the broadest portfolio of Microsoft Lync qualified session border controllers in the market, and with the Sonus SBC 1000 Session Border Controller serving as few as one SIP session, to the Sonus SBC 5200 Session Border Controller serving up to 64 000 sessions, customers can be confident that a single vendor can support all their needs - from the branch office to the headquarters.

The SBC 5100, which Q-KON will showcase at TechEd Africa, is based on the industry-leading SBC 5200 that service providers worldwide rely on for SIP interconnect, trunking, routing and policy. The SBC 5100 delivers many of the industry-leading capabilities of the SBC 5200 - robust security, flexible SIP session routing and policy management and media transcoding - at an attractive price/performance point for medium-sized to large enterprises and tier 2/3 service providers.

"The SBC 1000 and SBC 2000 are Microsoft Lync 2013 qualified; combine that with the scalability of the SBC 5100 and you have a strong portfolio that allows regional service providers and medium-sized to large enterprises to deliver a world-class communications experience designed for their environment," says Tjaart de Wet, MD of Q-KON SA.

Also on display will be the latest version of the Red Box Recording Suite. This is a Lync certified voice recording platform, with outstanding flexibility and features. The RBR platform offers features like Event Reconstruct, "Active Recording for Lync", and Audio Finder, a powerful search capability that can search on date and time, extension number, user name, or user-defined keywords.

CallSafe allows users to keep calls for investigation, compliance or legal disclosure. It adds considerable value, particularly with regards to legal implications of conversations with call centre representatives from various key industries, including finance, insurance, law enforcement and others.

"If the recording suite you are using doesn't comply with certain standards, it cannot be used in legal proceedings," says De Wet. "This is a critical issue when telephone discussions are recorded and the data located onsite at a call centre has to be extracted and evaluated as part of a legal process. This information must remain intact and its integrity maintained in order to be submitted as evidence in a case, for example."

The SBC 1000 and SBC 2000 have been interoperability tested with Red Box Recording Suite for Microsoft Lync, enabling enterprises to easily and cost-effectively deploy a survivable communications solution for branch offices that is compliant with government regulations.

Once again, delegates are welcome to discuss the latest market and product trends from the US and UK with senior officials from Sonus. "We appreciate the commitment from Sonus by supporting the South African event with four senior officials attending, including Mr Kevin Isacks, VP SBC Development," says De Wet.
