Q-KON South Africa, a telecommunication solutions provider and niche product distributor for the ICT market, is ready to distribute the Unified Exchange 2000 (UX2000), the first locally available Microsoft Lync-certified SBA (Survivable Branch Appliance) solution.
The product forms part of a wider product series of modular multifunction, single box appliances developed by NET (www.net.com) suitable for VOIP applications from traditional TDM to IP Centrex applications.
Established more than 25 years ago, NET achieved widespread success with its VX product deployments in OCS R2, the Microsoft offering prior to the release of Lync. The VX had the unique capability of replacing the mediation server, a cost saving feature which system integrators welcomed. NET is also one of five equipment manufacturers approved by Microsoft to manufacture enhanced gateways and SBAs for Lync.
The UX2000 is targeted at businesses that want to leverage off unified communications and voice-gateway services to enhance branch office networking and communication. It is designed to help decision-makers save costs, reduce management complexity and increase reliability.
The solution is fully managed using a Web-based management interface with remote management capability. It is designed for remote sites/branch offices that have minimal IT support.
Q-KON SA is a long-time distribution partner of NET, and it was decided to use the company's first-time participation at Microsoft's Tech.ED Africa to introduce the UX2000 solution, to advance exposure in the unified communication market.
Tjaart de Wet, Managing Director, Q-KON SA, says the company has received very positive feedback about its presence at Tech.ED Africa 2010 and the possibilities the UX solution brings to the market.
“The modular architecture allows deployment flexibility for different size locations and can easily scale up for future expansion. One of its key advantages, which we believe adds significant value to users, is that it can be deployed for a variety of applications, such as next-generation VOIP and Unified Communications, SIP Trunking, Wideband (HD Voice) transcoding as well as being a multi-service business gateway,” says De Wet.
“We anticipate an even stronger response from the market as this solution is taken up and integrated. It promises significant value and we believe houses all the necessary functionality, flexibility and stability required in solutions delivered to bolster the next-generation of communication,” De Wet adds.
