Q-KON is the only southern African first-tier network operator with the depth and experience to offer an integrated customer service based on multiple satellite technologies. The Company's Secure Private Satellite Network Service gives enterprise and financial customers throughout southern Africa the opportunity to leverage the high availability of satellite access networks with the regional span of terrestrial fibre networks to enable seamless, secure and cost-effective connectivity.

The Company is focused on connecting off-the-grid edge locations and is positioned on the parameter that defines the space where markets, business and technology meet.

Management views the financial sector as an important growth area that is driven by the adoption connectivity solutions. This infrastructure is pivotal to operators to help them sustain reliable connectivity across their networks, with the highest level of security at a minimal cost.

The Secure Private Network Service was developed through seamless integration of Newtec Sat3Play network with the latest and advanced iDirect Evolution network. This provides a single seamless satellite access platform that can address all market requirements, from large scale low-capacity deployments to services for high-end business critical and sophisticated enterprise networks.

The Secure Private Network integrates satellite service, terrestrial trunk networks and local last mile connectivity. It is implemented using VLAN architecture to provide secure and private connectivity between a head office and branch networks. Each network can be allocated specific satellite capacity to ensure minimum contracted circuit SLA's are delivered at all times.

The offering is provided in collaboration with Q-KON's country service providers. It is designed to provide high availability and trusted network connectivity for applications including industrial field operations, ATM terminals and small offices with low data requirements.

"As such it is ideally suited to assist the financial services market which is dependent on real-time accurate information management and system interconnectivity," says Dr Dawie de Wet, CEO of Q-KON. "The Secure Private Network Service can be deployed as secondary redundant services to facilitate maximum inter-branch connectivity, specifically that which links remote offices."

According to De Wet, the core value proposition of this service is to serve as an end-to-end service platform, secure and private network access with full management and visibility, as well as a trusted solution as primary or secondary service for corporate data, IP telephony and corporate video.

With Africa's telecommunications market expanding and the need for cost-effective, secure connectivity increasing, De Wet believes this offering will add substantial value to a number of emerging markets.
