Software provider for manufacturers, QAD, is a proud sponsor of the Dutch GINAF Rally Power team, participating in the prestigious 2005 Dakar Rally (Le Dakar) from Barcelona, Spain to Dakar, Senegal.
In its 27th year, Le Dakar is considered one of the most demanding auto races in the world - in 2004, less than half of the participants made it to the finish line. QAD`s sponsorship underscores the company`s commitment to the global automotive manufacturing industry.
Initiated by Netherlands-based truck maker GINAF, the GINAF Rally Power team is driving a GINAF racing truck powered by an 18-litre Caterpillar engine with 950 horsepower. The team aims to become one of the top five performers in the rally within the next three years. GINAF depends on QAD MFG/PRO software for the manufacture of approximately 250 heavy commercial trucks each year, and will use the team`s experience in the race to help develop and produce new models and features.
"We are pleased to sponsor the GINAF Rally Power team in its ambitious undertaking," said Hans van Houwelingen, marketing manager for QAD Netherlands. "Like GINAF, QAD has flourished through dedication and focus - in our case, drawing on 25 years` experience and leading technology to deliver solutions to real-world manufacturing challenges." Said Bryan Nelson, managing director of QAD South Africa: "Playing a role in powering the automotive industry in SA and around the world, QAD software applications help both multinational suppliers (such as Federal Mogul, Johnson Controls Inc, Visteon, Eaton Aeroquip) and local suppliers (such as Pasdec Automotive) automate and streamline manufacturing operations and better align supply with demand, for competitive advantage. And in some of the fastest growing markets, QAD solutions are rapidly becoming standard for suppliers: A recent survey of the Chinese automotive sector by the Economist Corporate Network reported that QAD is the largest provider of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems in that nation."
"QAD also is deeply involved in global initiatives to develop technology and business standards for advanced manufacturing concepts," continued Nelson. "The company was one of the first to ensure its products support Materials Management Operation Guideline Logistics Evaluation (MMOG/LE) guidelines, introduced by the US and European automotive industry groups.
"In addition, QAD was instrumental in the Automotive Industry Action Group`s (AIAG) standard for inventory information exchange, which is now being studied by Odette International, the primary automotive trade association in Europe. These contributions, as well as QAD product performance have been recognised by third-parties such as Frost & Sullivan, which gave QAD a Customer ROI Award for Supply Chain Management based on a survey of automotive suppliers in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA)."
