QAD raises the bar for manufacturing excellence with the introduction of MFG/PRO eB2

The general availability of MFG/PRO eB2, QAD`s comprehensive, Web-enabled suite of enterprise applications for manufacturing, distribution and financial management has been announced. In response to a demand by global manufacturers to address specific needs, MFG/PRO eB2 incorporates more than two dozen important new areas of functionality, and includes more than 20 enhancements. Said Bryan Nelson, managing director of QAD South Africa: "With MFG/PRO eB2, QAD draws upon more than two decades of unwavering focus on manufacturing systems. From single-site operators to multi-nationals, manufacturers will find relevant new functionality in the manufacturing, distribution and financial management applications comprising the MFG/PRO eB2 suite. These enhancements include new lean manufacturing functions to accelerate lead and cycle times for efficient responsiveness to customers, collaboration functions to better co-ordinate fulfilment and invoicing with trading partners, service/support management (SSM) improvements for better contract management, functions to streamline international financials and profitability analysis and desktop interface changes for greater ease of use and minimal user training."

According to Pam Lopker, QAD president and chairman of the board, QAD can offer its richest functionality ever with MFG/PRO eB2, in an enterprise application suite designed specifically for today`s real-world manufacturing challenges.

"Our customers are the real experts at defining and prioritising the functions and features they need. After 23 years of working with global manufacturers, we still believe that the best way to deliver a solid foundation for collaboration in a fast-changing business environment is to collaborate with your customers in order to deliver the exact functionality they need for their most critical business issues."

"QAD`s work with its customer development groups shows a commitment to identifying real business problems and delivering industry-specific solutions for manufacturers," said Jeffrey Strang, director of information technology, Dakota Growers Pasta Company. "Our MFG/PRO eB2 implementation has been headache-free - its flexibility enables you to implement smaller, incremental projects or the entire suite at once."

"The new Web browser-based interface empowers users to work smarter and more efficiently," said Don Springer, information systems manager, AJ Antunes. "The new desktop technology is ingenious for what it does now and what it will do in the future -- now it is the critical basis for system communications with users, and down the road can support computer to computer XML messaging."

MFG/PRO eB2 manufacturing, distribution and financial management enterprise applications are built on open, standards-based architecture to maximise interoperability with legacy systems and a variety of enterprise applications. Open Applications Group Integration Specification (OAGIS) messaging standards, Business Object Documents (BODs) and XML enable communication with other applications inside the organisation and outside, with suppliers and customers.

Its open, three-tiered architecture also makes MFG/PRO eB2 flexible and scalable, to accommodate operations of any size in both centralised and distributed environments. This new thin-client solution contributes to reduced cost of ownership by helping minimise application deployment and management, as well as required user training.

"Beginning with MFG/PRO eB2, customers can take advantage of electronic delivery of software. Using this approach, QAD customers will enjoy a reduction in the time from order to fulfilment to delivery to installation. Electronic delivery of software also enables customers in the future to quickly order additional functionality to their core MFG/PRO suite," added Nelson.
