QlikTech raises bar for in-memory business intelligence with release of QlikView 7.5

QlikTech releases QlikView 7.5Business intelligence software company QlikTech has introduced version 7.5 of the QlikView business analysis solution.
Johannesburg, 02 Jun 2006

QlikTech, the world`s fastest-growing business intelligence software company, has announced the launch of version 7.5 of QlikView, the company`s fast and flexible business analysis solution.

The latest version of the company`s flagship solution brings the power of enterprise-class business intelligence to the entire enterprise. New enhancements to QlikView 7.5 improve end-user access to data analysis, streamline application development and enhance overall flexibility.

In a recent Gartner report, co-author and research director, Kurt Schlegel states: "Organisations are increasing their spending, particularly as BI evolves from its reactive, departmental roots to become more pervasive and strategic. The increasing scope of BI platforms to include more users and access to more data sources will perpetuate the market growth. Traditionally, BI was just for senior executives and analysts, but many enterprises are extending their BI platform capabilities throughout the organisation to operational workers and managers."[i]

QlikView version 7.5 delivers significant enhancements, helping to improve ease-of-use and streamline the functions of application development and administration. New integration options in 7.5, including support for Web services, mean that QlikView users can access and analyse information from even more data sources.

"The new functionality within QlikView 7.5 offers us the flexibility to address new groups of users within our company who previously would not have been business intelligence users," said Ted Dimbero, vice-president of operations at Zyme Solutions. "QlikView 7.5 has allowed us the ability to develop new analyses quickly, ensuring that we are able to meet our customers` needs efficiently and accurately."

What`s new

Simplified user experience - There are several improvements to QlikView 7.5 that make the tool easier to learn and use, improving productivity and reducing ramp-up time for users. Improvements include a new start-up interface, an integrated Web browser to create a "home page" for users to begin their analysis, and new "What-If" comparison tools to help users understand and compare analyses.

New application development tools - New development tools include a KPI library giving an overview of all metrics being tracked, new wizards, and improved reports. These tools help reduce the time it takes to develop new analyses.

Streamlined administration tools - Simplified tools for deploying, managing and updating QlikView enable it to fit seamlessly into an organisation`s existing IT environment.

Support for Web services - QlikView 7.5 includes new plug-ins for a variety of additional data sources. A Web services plug-in enables users to interface with custom data sources from almost any SOA application.

Flexibility - QlikView 7.5 offers new analysis tools for on-the-fly creation of new dimensions, infinitely nested aggregation and statistical analysis. This allows users complete freedom in their analysis - analyses can be modified in seconds - and gives users the power to explore data in new and more complete ways.

Desktop QlikView - QlikView 7.5 makes it easier than ever for users to load local data and combine it with corporate data sources for fast personalised analysis.

"Individual productivity and the ability to innovate are two of the most important challenges the corporate world faces. QlikView 7.5 brings the power of enterprise-class business intelligence to end-users across the entire enterprise, improving productivity and enabling innovation at all levels," said Anthony Deighton, vice-president of marketing at QlikTech. "We`ve spent a lot of time listening to our customers, and what we`re hearing is that there is a change coming in business intelligence. People require access to data - and the ability to analyse that data - to carry out their jobs and make informed decisions on a daily basis. To meet this need, BI will have to produce tools that everyone can use. With QlikView 7.5, we`ve responded to that demand by delivering enterprise scale analysis to the individual."
