QlikView solidifies its position in SA market

Johannesburg, 04 Aug 2009

Next-generation business intelligence provider QlikView is entrenching its position as a South African market leader, signing up an average of 15 new clients a month for the first six months of 2009, and raising its local partner count to more than 20.

QlikView South Africa MD Davide Hanan says 2009 has also seen accelerated uptake of the software by large corporate customers. “Six banks and two major retailers are now using QlikView in at least one business area,” he says.

“We are seeing very serious interest from major players in the South African economy. Once a department has access to QlikView, the internal demand from the rest of the organisation grows rapidly. QlikView is one of the very few commercial software products in the world that does not have to be imposed on users by IT departments - demand is a direct result of user satisfaction. There is no better measure of the value of a tool.”

Hanan adds that the shift confirms that “anybody who is looking at BI today and doesn't consider QlikView is making a serious mistake. Those who don't review QlikView as part of a BI software search risk getting stuck in an outdated way of doing things.”

The growing customer demand for QlikView is mirrored by increased interest from potential partners, says Hanan. “We now have over 20 partners in South Africa and are concentrating on building their skills and certifications. We recently held our first QlikAcademy week, where nearly 40 partner representatives received commercial and technical training from international QlikTech staff.”

Hanan says the continued success of QlikView in the South African market is in part a reflection of tough market conditions. “It's more important than ever for companies to make their decisions based on accurate, up-to-date, well understood information,” he says. “Many of our clients are investing in their capacity to analyse all their data and make it meaningful for quick decision-making. When you have to decide where to cut expenses or how to increase your sales, you need access to all your data and you need it now, not in six months' time when it is too late.”
