QMS Minolta is planning a massive training initiative to get its Southern African resellers approved to international standards as QMS Minolta service and warranty centres.
Reseller partners nationally and also outside of South Africa in Lesotho, Botswana and Zimbabwe are invited to apply for training courses which will equip them to provide first line technical support to clients, says QMS Minolta director, Robin Mowatt.
"Support on printer technology generally throughout the region is often not up to scratch," he comments.
"We see this training initiative as an opportunity to improve the QMS Minolta channel support capability, and also for individual resellers to build up customer loyalty and become more competitive in the printer marketplace.
"There is a definite advantage to users in being supported directly by the people who supplied their product rather than by third parties, usually at more cost," he continues.
"We believe this is likely to encourage stronger customer relationships and significant repeat business. It should also provide resellers with an important additional revenue stream," he concludes.
QMS Minolta is aiming to have approved service and warranty centres in towns right across South Africa and in all major centres throughout the region by July 2000.
Training is currently being held bi-weekly at the QMS Minolta training centre in Midrand.
