Businesses frustrated with the hassles associated with human resources administration now have access to an affordable, reliable and highly functional solution.
The solution is being introduced to the market by Business Connexion`s HR and payroll competency, Q Data DynamiQue. Branded QPay, it is an elegant creation developed by Psiberworks that makes use of the application service provision (ASP) model. The human resources and payroll software is hosted externally and accessed by clients through a standard Web-browser.
Rob Bothma, divisional manager of Q Data Dynamique, says HR administration can be a time-consuming and expensive process, especially for small businesses that do not have a dedicated department to handle this function.
"Managing people is a critical aspect for any business - employees must be provided with payslips, leave must be managed, various documents must be produced and exchanged. Furthermore, when it comes to payroll, taxes must be deducted and paid over, and the accompanying documentation - such as IRP 5s - must be produced," he says.
The QPay system allows businesses to access a Web-based application through Internet Explorer. It not only grants access to standard documentation, such as letters of appointment, but also manages leave allocation, payroll, the generation of tax forms and the management of many other HR and payroll functions.
"The Web-based system obviates the need for expensive hardware or software and provides the facility for staff members to self-administrate those functions the employer wishes to give them access to. At approximately R12 per employee per month, professional HR management is affordable, reliable and within the requirements of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act and SARS regulations," says Bothma, adding that at this fee, even domestic workers can be managed on the system.
"Development on the QPay system is ongoing and as subscribers pay a monthly fee based on an employee band, they never have to concern themselves with hardware or software upgrades to benefit from new developments," continues Bothma.
He notes that the ASP model works very well for companies from as few as two employees through to those with up to 250 employees. Larger businesses can also have the QPay software hosted within their own IT environments.
He says the system has been designed to be simple to use, with a familiar Windows look and feel. "Furthermore, the necessity for onsite consulting has been minimised. Most companies are able to get up and running without any intervention, but where consulting is necessary, this is typically done over the Web or telephone, reducing cost to client."
Bothma says the system, launched in May, has been very well received by clients, with some 50 companies administrating thousands of employees with QPay. "It has been designed specifically for the South African market, and includes all the necessary legal requirements," he says. "As a comprehensive, affordable solution for HR and payroll management, we believe QPay is very hard to beat."
