“SAP Process Analysis powered by QPR ProcessAnalyzer” is a ready-made software-based solution for maximising the benefits from existing SAP investments by helping to identify inefficiencies caused by poorly aligned SAP IT systems and business processes.
The solution is available globally through QPR's value added reseller and consulting partner network.
“SAP IT system aligned well with business processes is the way to optimise your SAP investments. Poor alignment is typically caused by configurations done during deployment, changed business needs, changed business environment, inadequate user skills or ability to follow the agreed usage procedures and guidelines. As QPR ProcessAnalyzer makes visual discovery and analysis really fast and accurate, it is easy to see what needs to be improved and how it can be improved,” says Teemu Lehto, Vice-President of Business Development at QPR Software.
Automated Business Process Discovery (ABPD) takes data from the event logs (including SAP database tables and change documents) of business applications in order to discover patterns and visualise a process model to fit the information. Apart from being significantly faster, it also ensures an objective evaluation of the current state of business processes in light of time, cost and quality parameters, and provides the basis for accurate identification of improvement opportunities.
“Automated Business Process Discovery suits well to organisations using SAP IT systems. As SAP is an established and globally widely used IT system, it provides easily vast amount of event logs, such as SAP reference processes, to be used as raw material for QPR ProcessAnalyzer and in automated business process discovery,” Lehto continues.
“The SAP system is based on reference processes for which it provides good tools for execution - however, analysing the efficiency of the processes is, in a normal case, challenging. QPR ProcessAnalyzer automatically analyses the efficiency of the selected SAP-based processes and enables identification of bottlenecks. This analysis is needed to harness the full potential of the SAP system to support the company's business processes. When you take the whole process under investigation, variation analyses can be utilised to examine the significance of each process variant and to avoid sub-optimisation,” says Eero Knuutila from Nobultec Oy, a consulting company focused on process development in process-based system and SAP AG products.
“Often, one runs into the fact that the customer's view of the process is entirely dependent on whom you are asking. Thanks to QPR ProcessAnalyzer, you can show a visual representation of the as-is state of the process based on log data. The time spent with customers can be used for planning and executing process development,” he continues.
Industry analyst firm Gartner recently classified Automated Business Process Discovery (ABPD) as a new approach to automate the creation of comprehensive process models. ABPD uses unstructured, event-driven data (eg, audit trails messages, transactions, databases, etc) as found in most business applications to discover patterns, reveal errors and visualise a process model to fit the information. According to Gartner, ABPD is easy to get started and quickly deliver results with low risk because ABPD doesn't affect the day-to-day running of systems.
Potential customers for QPR Software's “SAP Process Analysis powered by QPR ProcessAnalyzer” service are all more than 100 000 organisations using SAP in more than 120 countries, and aiming to develop their business processes.
