Qualcomm unveils router reference design
networking and connectivity subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated, on Tuesday unveiled the new QCA9005AP 802.11ac reference design for wireless routers, gateways and enterprise access points, Telecom Tiger reports.
Using an onboard processor and power-efficient radio architecture, the 802.11ac platform can accelerate mainstream adoption of Gigabit wireless products for home and business networks.
The new reference platform features the QCA9558 dual-band, 3-stream 802.11n system on chip, the QCA9880 3-stream 802.11ac radio solution, and the AR8327 Gigabit Ethernet switch.
As consumers use tablets and notebooks to create, download and stream media files over wireless networks, Qualcomm Atheros' 802.11ac solutions are designed to deliver connectivity with the speed and reliability essential to today's mobile computing environments, EE Times writes.
Qualcomm Atheros' 802.11ac offers more than three times the WiFi performance of 802.11n per stream and is capable of delivering up to 1.3 Gbps PHY rates with the company's 3-stream solutions.
The new solutions also feature Bluetooth 4.0 with low-power mode for connecting mobile computers to wireless keyboards, headsets, speakers, printers and other peripherals while also conserving battery power.
“With this flexible and efficient networking platform, Qualcomm Atheros is delivering solutions for the entire ecosystem of networked devices and ensuring a smooth migration to Gigabit-capable WiFi,” Market Watch quotes Dan Rabinovitsj, senior VP and GM, networking business unit, Qualcomm Atheros, as saying.
