"'Without quality-control, data and information can be dangerous!" was the clear message from InfoBlueprint director, Alan Snow at a recent Cape Town workshop entitled: 'Understanding and Improving Data and Information Quality'
Delegates from companies as diverse as a supermarket chain, a publishing house, an insurance company and a healthcare provider attended this workshop, united by a common interest in improving the quality of their data and information.
At the workshop, Alan provided delegates with pointers on how to measure and manage data and information quality to help them deliver more reliable information vital for effective business operations and decision-making.
The InfoBlueprint workshop, held shortly after World Quality Day on 8 Nov 2007, during South Africa's National Quality Week 5 to 9 Nov 2007, emphasised the significance of the event: that quality is something that can enhance or detract from our daily lives, the success of our business and our country as a whole.
While most people think of quality in terms of manufactured products, the Information Age has created a new frontier for quality information; the critical and differentiating resource for organisations to operate effectively and efficiently in today's information economy.
