Quality equals security

When considering enterprise IT architecture, must be a primary factor in the planning process from the beginning, otherwise adding security measures could become an expensive afterthought, reports TechNewsWorld.

At a recent security practitioners' conference in San Diego hosted by vendor- and technology-neutral consortium, The Open Group, a panel of experts examined how enterprise security intersects with EA.

Aligning the two deepens the security protection across more planning- and architectural-level activities, to make security pervasive - and certainly not an afterthought.

Enterprise reveals open source toolkit

Enterprise Architecture Solutions has introduced the Essential Project, a powerful, professional, and free of charge open source toolkit for EA, according to Business Wire.

The toolkit comprises two toolsets: The Essential Meta-Model and the Essential Architecture Manager.

The Essential Meta-Model is a framework-independent set of semantic definitions of the building blocks and relationships of an enterprise, spanning business, information, IT applications and technology platforms.

KPMG expands services

KPMG says it will buy privately held business consulting firm Chartwell for an undisclosed amount, according to The Canadian Press.

KPMG indicates that it intends to integrate the Toronto-based firm, which specialises in EA and public-sector transformation, with its advisory services practice.

"Chartwell's core skills in EA are very much in demand by organisations in all industries," states John Herhalt, national managing of KPMG's Canadian advisory services practice.
