QuartzIT introduces new solution in semi-structured document capture

Johannesburg, 13 Sep 2004

QuartzIT Technologies has announced that it will represent SWT Software's product range in SA.

French company SWT focuses on the automated capture and processing of documents such as invoices, purchase orders and general unstructured mail.

The potential market for this type of software is enormous. For example, it is currently estimated that approximately 4% of all invoices are processed through EDI, which means that 96% of all invoices are still received as paper documents.

Paul Wright, Sales Manager at QuartzIT, says: Traditionally QuartzIT have focused on structured document capture only, such as the processing of application forms for new cellphone contracts, applications for finance, etc. But over the last few years, we have received more and more requests from organisations that are putting focus on process automation, for tools that will assist with the capture of semi-structured and unstructured documents. We searched the globe for applications that meet this requirement and are aggressively priced to suit the strength of the rand. SWT fits this profile quite nicely."

Founded in 1988, SWT has become the fastest growing forms processing software company in Europe. The company launched its first generation of document capture and recognition software in 1992, offering outstanding results compared to conventional ADR (automatic document recognition) solutions.

SWT's b-Wize software combines document scanning, information extraction and the automatic transfer of data and images to accounting systems, document management, ERP and database applications. Its software integrates with business solutions for all companies seeking to improve information management by automatically processing documents. The advantages are as follows:

* Make documents such as invoices and purchase orders available to co-workers more rapidly.
* Facilitate the exchange of important information received on documents.
* Reduce document processing costs.
* Increase the productivity of financial departments.
* Improve the accuracy of data captured from documents.
* Real-time monitoring of document processing queues.

Andy Dawson, SWT Manager for the UK and Africa, comments: "We are delighted to be working with QuartzIT and look forward to offering our innovative document capture and forms processing solutions to companies in SA. The unique combination of technologies offered in b-Wize makes our solution a very attractive proposition for many companies that need to manage large volumes of semi-structured paper documents. QuartzIT's wealth of experience in this market make them an ideal partner for SWT."
