RangeGate aligns with Eastern Cape economic growth at Industrial Technology Exhibition

Johannesburg, 14 Feb 2006

RangeGate will demonstrate its mobile applications at the Eastern Cape Industrial Technology Exhibition between 15 and 17 February at the Fresh Produce Terminal, Port Elizabeth Harbour.

The show will encompass all forms of business and reach a broad spectrum of the growing Eastern Cape commercial community. RangeGate will focus on reaching the automotive industry in the area with Sales-Edge, Logistics-Edge and electronic proof-of-delivery demonstrations.

"Our product and service offering, and what we`ll have on show at the exhibition, is designed to meet the needs of any in and out of premises mobile requirements," says Mark Lilje, MD of RangeGate. "That includes logistics, warehousing, field service and field sales teams."

RangeGate`s products and services leverage mobile technologies to give customers a competitive-edge in the supply chain and service operation. Its solutions encompass warehouse control and sales force automation, among others.

"This delivers a real-time data capture capability that optimises business processes and accelerates return on investment," says Lilje.

Warehouse-Edge gives customers the edge by tightly integrating operational and back-end ERP systems through automated systems. "It enables a company to more accurately control all inventory-related processes through the use of wireless point-of-control terminals and scanners in conjunction with RangeGate`s intelligent middleware applications," says Lilje.

Logistics-Edge enhances delivery operations by providing full track-and-trace capabilities, combined with electronic signature capture. It enables customers to accurately control and manage all delivery and collection-related processes through the use of mobile terminals and scanners in conjunction with RangeGate`s intelligent middleware.

"Logistics-Edge ensures full visibility of all assets and operations from vehicle load through to delivery, collections and returns management," says Lilje.

The software supports various communications mechanisms, including batch, 802.11 wireless LAN, GSM/GPRS to ensure that critical business data is always available.

The exhibition is important to companies such as RangeGate since the Eastern Cape is growing in economic importance. One indicator is a 30.9% housing price increase, while another is the value of recorded building plans, which has risen by 50.9% to over R42 billion at large municipalities around the country, much of it in the Eastern Cape.
