RapidCloud Technology secures distribution for Lok Technology in Africa

Innovative product offers African ISPs all- in-one provisioning
Johannesburg, 06 Feb 2007

RapidCloud Technology, leading African wireless-network solutions provider, has secured rights to distribute US-based Lok Technology's gateways and centralised-authentication appliances across Africa.

"ISPs need to find quicker, more cost-effective ways of providing users with access to data and technology resources," says Malcolm Clark, MD, RapidCloud Technology. "And technology that simplifies network management and control is one way to create and capture some value."

Lok appliances are designed to manage, provision and protect wireless networks - from small networks serving a few dozen people, to large community networks serving thousands. Or to function within an existing network to support a growing user base, implement wireless, or improve performance and security.

"LokTek is revolutionising the provisioning of broadband wireless Internet access (BWIA) by changing the approach to how you architect and manage your network. Rather than relying on a set of daisy-chained point network-solutions with a few features, we offer the BWIA equip marketplace a genuinely 'all-in-one' solution, designed to deliver all the functionality you'd need to manage your network deployment," says Murad Goeksel, LokTek Regional Manager, EMEA.

Its all-in-one product offering has built-in patented capabilities such as roaming network provisioning - profiles that allow administrators to assign individual users different bandwidth packages that follow them wherever they connect to the network.

"Provisioning like this can produce a 5:1 savings in capital equipment expenditures, as well as additional savings in ongoing maintenance costs," says Clark.

Already first-to-market ISPs are using the product and reaping its benefits. "As users across Africa gain access, they will become increasingly mobile. Innovative wireless services and applications are critical not just in providing services to potential new customers, but in keeping a competitive advantage and differentiation in the market," adds Clark.
