RapidCloud Technology has won Redline Communications 2005 Partner of the Year for Africa region.
According to Arnoud De Nooy, CEO of RapidCloud Technology, this is the second consecutive year the company has secured the accolade. "The award is based on a combination of factors including client satisfaction and the successful introduction of WiMax Forum Certified fixed and wireless broadband access, backhaul solutions and professional services into client environments," he says.
RapidCloud, which has partnered with Redline since 2002, has championed the early adoption of WiMax technology and led the deployment of WiMax network infrastructure in sub-Saharan Africa. This has included the roll-out of the first live certified WiMax in Africa with Teledata Mozambique recently. Currently the company is involved with the roll-out of WiMax networks in four African countries.

De Nooy comments that the demand for WiMax product from African telecommunications operators and ISPs has seen a significant increase over the last six months. This is since the certification of Redline`s WiMax products by the WiMax forum in January. "WiMax offers operators an immediate market opportunity to address the backlog in DSL services pervading the market or introduce services not yet available."
