Rational Software, the e-development company represented locally by CCH Software Development, has announced a new version of the Rational Suite family of products that will help its customers reduce the time required to develop high-quality software for the Internet.
This new release includes six industry-firsts for Web development, updates to the 12 products that comprise the Rational Suite product family, and e-business-specific enhancements to the Rational Unified Process, a comprehensive process for e-development.
"Because 80% percent of Rational`s revenue comes from customers building software for the Internet, it focused this new release of Rational Suite and its component products on accelerating Web development," says Themi Themistocleous, director of CCH Software Development.
Rational`s firsts include:
First to provide requirements framework for B-to-B e-business systems
First to provide a Unified Modelling Language (UML) framework for scalable n-tier Microsoft Windows DNA applications - with prepackaged Windows DNA design and code templates with full-round trip engineering support
First Web modelling solution that reverse-engineers dynamic Web sites consisting of active server pages and HTML into visual models
First Web modelling solution based on industry-standard UML notation, providing a common language (UML) and tool for improved communication between Web architects, business analysts, database developers and Web developers
First to provide round-trip engineering between visual models and XML/DTD specifications and first to provide round trip engineering between visual models and Enterprise Java Bean (EJB) components
First to provide data modelling based on industry-standard UML notation;
Rational Rose Data Modeller improves communication between team members and reduces learning time
This is the fourth time in 15 months that Rational has issued a simultaneous release of all the products that comprise the Rational Suite product family including Rational Rose, Rational Rose RealTime Edition, the Rational Unified Process, Rational RequisitePro, Rational TeamTest, Rational TestFactory, Rational ClearQuest, Rational LoadTest, Rational PureCoverage, Rational Purify, Rational Quantify, and Rational SoDA. This marks a continuation of Rational`s synchronised product release schedule in which the Rational Suite component products are all pre-tested and delivered on one set of CDs with a common installation procedure.
