Raxel Communications today announced that it had introduced the latest version of its Communicator Smart-Appliance product, the 1100 Series, a network appliance designed in SA for the South African small business market, for example, an organisation of up to 100-networked users.
The integrated applications enable companies to take advantage of the rapidly changing Internet as well as helping them retain a constant control of its usage, and thus becomes an important management tool for the organisation. Communicator is a network device designed to give a company`s LAN instant access to the Internet and e-mail facilities.
Additionally, Raxel Communications also announced the appointment of UK-based s2s consultants as a distributor for its products in UK and Europe.
Communicator Smart-Appliance, Series 1100, the very latest version to be released, includes the following new capabilities/modules:
. An ISDN Access module as a standard option, in addition to the Local Host and Analogue Access modules.
. A Diginet Access module with capabilities from 64Kb to 2Mb.
. A new and enhanced PROXY facility, which includes some inherent intelligence for optimisation purposes including the use of caching techniques.
. A File and Print Sharing facility.
. An anti-virus module.
. A firewall option that is relevant for Mail Servers and for Web and Proxy Servers.
. Various rental options.
