Harry Potter mania continues to build this week as online orders for JK Rowling`s latest book, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, continue to flood in ahead of the book`s worldwide release on Saturday.

The book will be officially launched at 1am local time on Saturday, but online retailers have been accepting pre-launch sales for those who want to avoid the late night queues at bookshops.

Local online book retailer Kalahari.net says over 3 000 books have been pre-ordered from Kalahari.net to date. The company has promised 1 000 buyers in major centres that their copies will be delivered between 8am and noon on the official launch day, with those in outlying areas receiving their copies on Monday.

The popularity of the new book is not putting any undue strain on the company, since CEO Hein Pretorius says Kalahari.net copes with around 2 500 deliveries a day over the Christmas shopping season.

Pretorius says the fifth book in the Harry Potter series is a bestseller, with sales already double those of the previous book, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. "The mania surrounding Harry Potter is absolutely unbelievable."

Evin Morris, manager of www.exclusivebooks.com, says the Web page dedicated to the latest Harry Potter book has received five times more impressions than any other book on the Web site in the last two months. Over 9 000 books have been pre-ordered through the site and direct orders with Exclusive Book stores.
