Rectron acquires Fujitsu storage agency

Rectron Limited, a leading South African distributor of computer components, has been appointed as an official distributor of Fujitsu products in South Africa with effect from 1 March 1999.

Adam Harris, Managing Director of Fujitsu Europe, said Rectron had been selected as a Fujitsu distributor by virtue of its strong, national dealer network and successful distribution track record in the South African IT market.

The Japanese Fujitsu group is a leading provider of information technology products and solutions for the global marketplace with consolidated revenues of $37,7 billion. With over 500 group companies, including Amdahl Corporation and ICL PLC, Fujitsu is one of the world`s largest suppliers of computers and information systems solutions, telecommunications and semiconductor products, software and services. The Fujitsu Group has over 180 000 employees worldwide and operations in more than 100 countries.

Mark Lu, Managing Director of Rectron, said he aimed to position Fujitsu among the top three players in the storage device sector of the South African IT market within the first year of operations. `Fujitsu`s core business is manufacturing and development. Rectron`s strength lies in its distribution and marketing capabilities and I believe we will be able to add value to this excellent product as it complements our product range very well`, he said.
