Reconfirming its commitment to the local community and its subsequent safety, South African distributor Rectron donated 30 PCs to the Midrand police station.
Rectron, which is headquartered in Midrand, decided to donate the PCs following a recent Sunday newspaper article that described the police station`s dire need for technology.
Partnering with Microsoft, Rectron handed over 30 Gigabyte Technology PCs bundled with Windows that will be utilised by the station for its critical daily operations that include investigative work.
Speaking at the event, Pramod Otham, managing director of Rectron, emphasised the importance of partnership with important community services such as the Department of Safety and Security and further confirmed the distributor`s commitment to the Midrand police station`s work.
Comments Dr Ndlovu, Midrand police station head: "The PCs are going to be invaluable to us; we`ll be utilising them in all departments, including investigations, logistics and finance."
He added that due to budgetary constraints, the station has not been able to upgrade its IT system, which is why Rectron`s donation is so important and will add a great deal to its daily policing activities.
The 30 PCs were handed over at the Midrand police station`s new premises in Midrand.
