South African distributor Rectron has released Toshiba`s first 17-inch notebook, the Satellite P20, which features the latest Intel Pentium 4 processor with HT Technology (Hyper-Threading), offering computing power for watching movies, playing games or making music.
Intel`s HT Technology enables the Satellite P20 notebooks to work more efficiently by maximising processor units - one single processor can run two separate threads of software simultaneously.
The Toshiba notebooks also offer DVD-burning capabilities. "Where notebooks use to be the poor cousin, they are now a competitive rival to desktops, with more users taking advantage of its mobility and enhanced functionality," comments Andr'e Rossouw, Toshiba product manager at Rectron.
One of the key elements of the Satellite P20 is its portable display technology that, for example, offers 1440-by-900 pixels in a widescreen 16.10 ratio. The technology also includes NVIDIA`s GeForce FX Go5200 graphic processor.
"The Satellite P20`s digital photography, DVD, MP3 and CD functionalities offers users a powerful and portable widescreen multimedia computer that embraces today`s digital entertainment demands," he says.
The new Satellite P20 series runs on Microsoft Window XP Home Edition and offers an integrated suite of software that includes Motion DV STUDIO, for digital movie-making, and DVDfun STUDIO for creating and burning DVDs.
