Rectron, SA`s leading computer components solution provider, has released three new Intel chipset motherboards from Gigabyte Technology, a leading manufacturer of motherboard, graphics card, system, peripherals, server and communication products.
Dubbed the P4 Titan series, the release coincides with Intel`s launch of its groundbreaking 850E and 845E/G/GL chipset series.
Alan Michas, IT manager at Rectron, says the new offerings break the 533MHz FSB barrier, providing a higher bandwidth between the CPU and the platform for outstanding performance.
"Gigabyte`s objective was to produce a motherboard with increased performance and stability and to achieve this developed its flagship GA-8IHXP platform - the first in the world to employ ICH4 technology for its south bridge," he says. "ICH4 represents the very latest technology from Intel. It initially supports 6 USB 2.0 ports and greatly increases the data transfer rate between the platform and surrounding I/O peripherals. Besides using ICH4, the GA-8IHXP platform is also the first to support PC1066 RAMBUS to satisfy the demands of speed-hungry power users."
Michas says several future technology trends are evident in the new Gigabyte motherboard series. These include RAID + ATA 133, a development which provides RAID 0,1 functionality and also an Ultra ATA 133 interface for the attachment of IDE devices such as HDD, CD-ROM, CD/RW, DVD-ROM and others.
"The motherboards also feature the IEEE 1394 (Fire Wire) interface, which is aimed at upcoming consumer electronics such as the DV camcorder," he notes. The second Gigabyte motherboard released by Rectron - the GA-8IGX - is based on Intel`s 845G chipset, which, together with the Intel Extreme Graphics Engine, delivers a seamless integrated graphics solution meeting high-end performance targets.
Rectron says the GA-8IGX is the only motherboard available today that supports DDR 333 memory, delivering a higher 3D graphics quality through a faster speed memory module.
The final release, Gigabyte`s new GA-8ILML4 motherboard, using Intel`s 845GL chipset, supports 400MHz FSB and is targeted at system integrators. "With the integration of Intel Extreme Graphics Engines and 6 USB 2.0 ports together with high quality audio and Internet connections, it is the ideal motherboard for value minded users or system builders," adds Michas.
