Rectron scoops Best Distributor award

Johannesburg, 17 Sep 2002

Rectron has scooped the Best Distributor award from PC Format Magazine. The August issue of the publication placed the Midrand-based company well ahead of rivals Sahara, Mustek and Acer Africa in its annual Reader Award survey.

According to PC Format, Rectron has become "the public`s choice" beating its nearest challenger by "a cool 47%".

The publication highlights Rectron`s array of world-class products in its arsenal, including Gigabyte, ViewSonic, Leadtek, Intel, HP, Toshiba, Maxtor, Aopen, Handspring, Logitech, Fujitsu, Canon, Cnet, Transcend, TwinMos, Jazz, Matrox and others.

PC Format says a key reason for Rectron`s success is CEO Mark Lu`s ability to "think big and materialise his vision".

Rectron`s aim is to hit the billion-rand per annum turnover mark, which should be achieved by 2003. Lu`s next milestone will be to turn Rectron into a billion-dollar company which, says PC Format, is entirely possible given the company`s dedication and Lu`s determination.

Commenting on the award, Lu said it was a bold step by the publication to publicise its findings. "It is refreshing to see a publication react to its readers in such a way, and we are impressed with their survey and its professionalism."

In a move to expand his company`s reach, Lu has committed Rectron to a new partner- and customer-centric focus and emphasised the need for marketplace .

"We are looking at new marketing opportunities in the SME, and home environments - areas that have been largely untapped in SA. At Rectron we are not only listening to our resellers but also making the necessary decisions to evolve our marketing strategies accordingly," he added.
