Local computer components and peripherals distributor, JSE-listed Rectron, has signed a distribution agreement with VIA Technologies, currently the world`s leading vendor of motherboard chipsets, x86 processors and communications and networking chips for PCs and Internet Appliances.
"In terms of our agreement with VIA, Rectron will gain access to the Cyrix III chipset, an idea substitute for `branded` chipsets which have been unavailable for many months," says Rectron CEO Mark Lu.
"VIA has world class IC R&D capabilities and an ability to develop cost-effective microprocessor and communication platforms that will enable our customers in South Africa to build powerful and feature-rich PC systems and Internet appliances that are affordable for everyone," adds Lu.
