The numbers are in, and Lexmark`s Baby Days are going stronger than ever, with a total of 1 029 days donated to Cotlands for the second quarter of the year through CRIB, the Cartridge Recycling Initiative for Babies.
CRIB - which forms part of Lexmark`s Siyabhambili Initiative - is a programme that encourages dealers, resellers and customers to return their used ink and toner cartridges. These are then recycled in an environmentally friendly manner, and Lexmark donates money to needy organisations like Cotlands through Baby Days.
Says Hans Horn, Managing Director of Lexmark International South Africa: "This year we have given Cotlands 1 995 Baby Days to date, and since the project was launched in April 2002 we have donated more than 26 000 Baby Days."
He adds: "The CRIB initiative not only supports the children in need in South Africa, it also means that we are recycling a large amount of waste material, ensuring that our children grow up to a brighter future, and a cleaner South Africa."
As part of Lexmark`s commitment to the children of Cotlands, the company has also donated printing technology to the organisation for use at their various operations around the country. These include laser printers and inkjets for operations in Johannesburg, Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal and Western Cape.
Horn concludes: "Siyaphambili means `forward ever, backward never`. At Lexmark, we are committed to the future, and to making a valuable contribution to South African communities. We recognise the important role Cotlands plays in providing a future for our children, and we are proud to be able to assist them in such a meaningful way."
