Red-M and Toshiba announce alliance for Bluetooth technology solutions

Johannesburg, 14 Nov 2000

Red-M, a pioneering developer of Bluetooth solutions and subsidiary of Madge Networks N.V. and Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc, Computer Systems Group, a leading manufacturer in solutions, today announced an alliance to offer Toshiba`s small to medium business (SMB) customers advanced Bluetooth wireless technology solutions. Under the new alliance, Red-M will provide Toshiba with core Red-M BIAS (Bluetooth Internet Access Server) software technology and Red-M 1000AP access points, enhancing Toshiba`s personal connectivity solutions for its SMB customers. In October 2000, Red-M announced the 3000AS and 1000AP, the world`s first Bluetooth network products to combine mobile infrastructure with public network and LAN access to deliver high value differentiated wireless in-building services to emerging Bluetooth mobile communications devices. By offering Red-M`s software and 1000AP Bluetooth access points, Toshiba will provide customers with greater mobility in the workplace. As a promoter member of the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) and technology leader, Toshiba is dedicated to delivering tomorrow`s technology today.
