Red Man implements purchasing system for CMC

Johannesburg, 11 Feb 2010

Systems integrator Red Man Technologies has implemented a Sage Line 500 purchasing system for CMC, a leading Italian leading construction company, to automate the purchasing requirements of its South Africa operation.

CMC has moved from manual purchasing practices using Excel spreadsheets to an automated system for generating and tracking purchase orders from issue to receipt, to give it control over the full purchasing cycle.

Sebastiano Ottolino, ICT manager for CMC southern Africa, says the company chose Sage Line 500 for its price/performance, flexibility and expansion options. “The new automated system, with secure authorisation, as well as database back-up and restore options, has reduced the cost of printing, saved time, and generated efficiencies, since up-to-date, accurate information is now available online to all users.”

“We analysed CMC's business needs according to best practice standards, customised the Sage Line 500 software, redesigning requisition and purchase orders, and provided training and implementation services,” says Red Man Technologies business development manager Lizelle van Dyk. The entire solution took two months to implement.

“Red Man was both professional and practical in focusing precisely on what we needed and providing a streamlined, controlled procurement process,” says Ottolino. “We were impressed with their product knowledge and the fact that they could advise us on the best solutions - solutions which we hope to roll out to our other African offices.”
