Safmarine Computer Services (SCS), an independent IT solutions provider within the Safmarine Group, has acquired reseller rights for Mail Attender for Lotus Notes, one of the world's most comprehensive mail administration products, already in use by British American Tobacco and BMW.
A growing problem is that many employers are unaware of the amount and type of information being stored by users, in order to reduce legal liabilities and protect assets, it is imperative that companies begin to aggressively manage, monitor and regulate e-mail usage.
Says SCS business unit manager Dave Blundell: "Mail Attender safeguards companies against severe damage, by automatically enforcing retention policies, archiving/deleting documents, controlling electronic sabotage, and performing keyword/phrase searches to audit inappropriate usage."
With over four billion messages circulating every day, according to technology analyst IDC reports, companies' exposure risks are on the increase, especially since Gartner estimates that e-mail traffic volumes will increase by 40% this year.
"An advantage is that this is a mature and reliable product, and no one wants to be the guinea pig for another just-released product. This product has a proven track record; over three million mailboxes for some of the world's largest organisations are being managed, some of which include Burger King, MetLife, The Oppenheimer Group, Coca-Cola Bottling, FedEx and many more," says Blundell.
Mail Attender mitigates legal exposure is by eliminating inappropriate business material and attachments; searching for and reporting findings of words or phrases that could be used in court; and enforcing document retention policies and deleting pornographic content. In addition, by regulating employee usage, companies can also reduce the risk of sexual harassment claims, workplace lawsuits and security breeches.
Fred Gray, Chief Operations Officer of Sherpa Software, says: "There has never been a more critical time for management to be actively controlling and regulating information residing in their corporate messaging and database systems."
SCS offers a full suite of e-mail and database content management tools, which is available to all companies and can be tailored to meet individual needs.
