Registration for the Linux Professional Institute (LPI) exams and the open source technology fair closes tomorrow.
The LPI exams and the first South African Open Source Technology Fair will be held at the Innovation Hub in Pretoria on 1 April.
"The exams are based on the LPI of Canada. Those who successfully complete the exams will get an internationally recognised certificate," says Linux Holdings PR manager Cindy le Roux.
She says the exams cost R300 per person and so far 50 people have registered. "We are hoping about 100 people will write the exams."
Le Roux says Linux Holdings needs three weeks before the event to order the exam from Canada and from the Shuttleworth Foundation in Cape Town.
There is study material on the Linux Holdings Web site for those wishing to prepare for the exams, she says.
The open source fair, aimed at the small and medium enterprise sector, will showcase open source technology solutions for business owners and decision makers.
The event will be presented by Linux Holdings and co-sponsored by The Innovation Hub and Intoweb. For more information, go to the fair Web site.
