Free online financial services platform moneysmart has been registered as an authorised financial services provider with the Financial Services Board (FCB Licence No 43391).
This is according to the company, which rolled out its platform in September last year.
The company says it has also been certified by three e-security companies, namely TRUSTe, McAfee and VeriSign.
Moneysmart CEO Tobie van Zyl says the approval from the FSB assures the company's customers of secure usage, affirming the financial services products offered on moneysmart are ethical and abide by the regulator's rules.
Van Zyl adds that while the platform does not offer financial advice directly to customers, but instead through its participating insurance and investment companies and banks, it believes its users should be treated with the same protection and professionalism that is required by the FSB.
The company received its FSB approval just over a month ago, according to Van Zyl. He adds that, since this approval, customer feedback has shown increased user confidence in the platform.
The FSB describes itself as an independent institution established by statute to oversee the South African Non-Banking Financial Services Industry in the public interest.
