The need to deliver greater value at lower cost emerged as one of the essentials for the survival of the IT industry at a recent confidence conference hosted by ITWeb.
In response to these industry pressures, the market has seen the introduction of corporate-style software packages aimed at small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Enterprise resource planning and customer relationship management packages have been closely followed by SME-style business intelligence (BI) solutions.
Local BI development company, 3fifteen, has responded to the call of having to do more with less, but has not confined its offering to SMEs. "ProClarity can offer full BI power at a lower cost for a wide range of businesses," says Ian Burgess, 3fifteen director.
"We see our mission as one of enlightening business owners about the power of BI and how they can use technology to work for them," says Burgess. "One of our key differentiators in the BI market is the emphasis we place on delivering successful projects through our tried and tested methodologies.
"ProClarity is backed by extensive research and incorporates multi-dimensional cross-referencing or 'data cubes` to enable ad hoc queries and make data easily accessible and deliverable in meaningful ways through a flexible Web-based interface," says Rian Durandt, 3fifteen`s BI area specialist.
"3fifteen`s BI solution enables any business to use data intelligently, which is the essence of business intelligence," Durandt notes. "Businesses can use the information provided to guide strategies for stock buying, advertising, promotions and even supplier relationships.
"Another key aspect of our offering is that it makes use of what many prospective users already have to cut costs," Burgess explains. "ProClarity is built on top of the Microsoft platform, which means many businesses will not have to incur further expenditure on licences or systems software, and the versatility of .Net is already built in."
Burgess points out that cost is further reduced by using a services-based pricing model, which means costs remain predictable and spread over a longer period instead of requiring huge up-front investment. "Typically we can show a return on investment in 90 days.
"Through ProClarity, we are bringing to market a far effective data storage model than data warehousing and taking BI to the utility computing environment," concludes Burgess.
