Remote network management and maintenance service launched

By Duxbury Networking
Johannesburg, 15 Jul 1999

Duxbury has created a maintenance, support and monitoring designed to cater for users who want to obviate the risks associated with the reliance on in-house resources.

"Businesses are becoming more effective in their operations through the adoption of new-generation information technology (IT). However, many companies do not have the necessary skills and resources in-house to adequately maintain modern corporate-wide, high speed networks," says Duxbury Networking chief technology officer, Graham Vorster.

"Many network users are realising that to keep up with the accelerating pace of modern technology - and the increasing levels of network traffic brought about by the use of bandwidth intensive, internet-based graphics and voice applications - more sophisticated network management and maintenance solutions are required," he says.

"Outsourcing IT - particularly elements of network operation - has become a key area of focus for many organisations that need the benefits of new-generation technology, but do not have the internal resources to leverage it."

Duxbury is offering customers the option of a staged approach to outsourcing: Options can encompass the remote monitoring of the network, its management and, if required, the complete running of the network.

The company will also provide customers with the option of outsourcing line troubleshooting, line management, even administrative aspects of managing the corporate network.

"Users receive regular reports on network usage and cost analyses which can assist with future planning and capacity evaluations," he adds.
