Secure Data, a member of the JSE-listed ERP.com Group and the southern African distributor for Centennial, today announced that Rennies Financial Services, a member of the JSE-listed Bidvest Group, had chosen and installed Centennial Discover in order to close the gap in its security chain, by being able to track hardware and software assets and their use within the nationwide network. The order was for 2 000 licences.
Centennial Discovery, the next generation network inventory-tracking tool, is the first network inventory-tracking tool that enables organisations to monitor:
* What IT assets are in place;
* Where they are physically located;
* How they are configured;
* When and what changes are made to them;
* Which software applications are installed; and
* How often is the software accessed.
Centennial Discovery has a number of significant features that differentiate it from other network inventory and audit products, most significantly LANProbe and software usage auditing. The Patent-pending Centennial LANProbe is unique in that it will help determine the physical location of devices, including PCs, printers, routers and other network devices. This gives the user the best possible visibility of their IT assets, combining the advantages of both a physical and network inventory, while saving them time and money.
"We were not only very conscious of this gap in our security policy, but it was also important to us to assist with the effective implementation of our Corporate Governance policy," commented Norman Steingold, IT Director of Rennies Financial Services. "Through the implementation of Centennial Discovery we have addressed both these needs and have already seen a return on this investment within the first 72 hours following its deployment across our organisation.
"Two of the positive side effects from the installation of Centennial Discovery have been the software audit results that have materialised, thus making our software licensing conformance so much easier to monitor, and the information that has been gleaned, which has enabled us to reconfigure our desktop systems with standardised configurations and appropriate software suites," continued Steingold.
Centennial Discovery was awarded a 'Best buy' choice, earlier this year, by UK-based SC Magazine, one of the world's leading security publications.
