Replication tech aids continuity

It has been stressed that replication technology enables centralisation of all tape operations in centres, improving disaster recovery provision, according to One Stop Click.

According to IT services provider, Quantum, improving local data protection and business continuity is increasingly important in the current economic climate.

Janae Lee, senior vice-president of marketing at the group, commented: "Improving data protection and disaster recovery for the branch office continues to be a high priority - and a major problem - for many customers.

Partnership offers disaster planning solutions

Telehouse America, a US provider of dedicated data centres and managed IT services, along with Tamp Systems, a business continuity and disaster recovery planning provider, will offer Tamp's full portfolio of consulting services, as well as Web-based business continuity management software under Telehouse's Manage-E brand, reports Sys-Con Media.

The companies say the partnership offers organisations easy access to disaster planning solutions that increase resiliency and mitigate risk through the orderly recovery of mission-critical operations.

"Business continuity planning is an integral part of any company's comprehensive managed services suite and we look to assist any customers who necessitate comprehensive business continuity planning, management and consulting," said Akio Sugeno, Telehouse's senior director of business development, Internet engineering and operations.

Business continuity planning evolves

The dramatic rise in social networking and trends is presenting new challenges and considerations to companies' network security, disaster planning and business continuity programs, according to a study by AT&T, reports PR Newswire.

The good news is that businesses are stepping up their technology investment and efforts to meet these challenges despite the economy; and mobile devices are increasingly part of business continuity plans.

These are some of the findings to emerge from AT&T's annual study on business continuity and disaster recovery preparedness for US businesses in the private sector.
