Lexmark has launched an educational campaign to motivate businesses to print less. The printless.co.za Web site provides paper reduction strategies for paper-intensive industries by focusing on using a multifunctional printer's (MFP) features to maintain and manipulate information in the digital domain and minimise the need for printing hard copies.
The printless.co.za Web site also explains the impact of printing habits on the environment and offers tips on how to print more efficiently and reduce consumable waste.
“A change of mindset is required to shift the belief that paper documents carry more weight than e-mail,” says Mark Hiller, managing director of Lexmark South Africa. He went on to explain that paper causes up to 80% of the environmental impact during the use phase of a printer's lifecycle.
Lexmark is supporting the paper reduction drive through its www.printless.co.za site, combined with a wide portfolio of technology built into its devices, as well as highly effective software solutions, bringing new levels of control to the print environment.
Advanced solutions on enterprise level include optimisation of workflow processes made possible through software integrating with multifunction devices to reduce and automate repetitive paper-intensive processes and allowing employees to focus on more important tasks.
Lexmark recently launched an extended three-year guarantee on its high-end colour laser printers and Hiller confirms that “all future product launches will be packaged with print less solutions” as part of the international imaging company's drive towards a sustainable future. Hiller reminds that the cheapest page is the one not printed.
Printer models eligible as part of the three-year guarantee are the Lexmark C780 Series, C782 Series, C935 Series, X782e, X940e and X945e bought before 31 January 2009.
