Online florist and gift service Flowers.co.za has started sending special occasion reminders to subscribers` cellphones.
Users can subscribe to the Flowers.co.za reminder service online for a fee of R10 and receive 15 SMS messages annually to their cellphones, reminding them of upcoming birthdays and other special occasions, says Flowers.co.za founder and MD Chris Mason.
Mason says the service has been timed to go live before Mother`s Day - one of the busiest periods in the online flower and gift ordering industry.
"People are inclined to realise at the last minute there is a special occasion looming. They forget due to busy lifestyles and order flowers at the last minute. Often, the gift will arrive too late, which can cause embarrassment for the giver and the recipient," he says.
