One of the technology successes within the Liberty Group and particularly within its Liberty Collective Investments (LCI) operation, has been in the areas of imaging and workflow. In this regard, Rethink Management Consulting has been an integral part of the program.
Recently LCI, which is now part of the STANLIB fold, with the assistance of Rethink and software developer Mindkey, completed its latest workflow implementation for the unit trust side of LCI.
The Web-based system includes a production scanning and indexing component feeding several workflow processes, as well as inbound fax and e-mail integration. Another key feature is a call centre interface that allows agents to report to clients on any servicing requests in the back-office workflow processes, and to launch work requests into the back-office admin departments, track them and receive responses from the back-office.
The business processes were fully defined and mapped-out by Rethink, which also undertook the production of the workflow functional specification. Rethink was also responsible for the creation of full system user acceptance test packs and the on-going liaison with Mindkey, which supplied the workflow system and undertook the related implementation configuration and development work.

"We were extremely impressed with the professional approach taken by Rethink to this latest project, particularly in respect of the accuracy of the analysis and the documenting of the relevant processes. It was evident that Rethink and MindKey had worked together previously and understood fully the nature and scope of their tasks, as this project turned out to be a comparatively easy implementation and, as a bonus, was undertaken on a fixed-price basis. Unlike many other consulting groups, the key phrase with Rethink was 'proof on delivery`," continued Guedes.
"Not only have we saved expenditure by developing in this manner, but we are already seeing increased efficiency within the organisation manifesting itself through improved response times and extra functionality," concluded Guedes.
From the substantial amount of workflow work undertaken at Liberty and several other clients, Rethink has defined a "generic" set of workflow requirements, and these were some of the key input into the workflow system developed by Mindkey. Work is already under way for the next workflow project in yet another of the units within STANLIB Wealth Management.
