Reynolds joins Simeka BSG

Johannesburg, 13 Feb 2006

Simeka BSG today announced that Kelvin Reynolds, previous Managing Director (MD) of Oracle SA and VP of Oracle Corporation, has joined Simeka BSG an Altx-listed company.

Reynolds is an authority on the subject of enterprise resource planning (ERP) and a knowledgeable IT industry expert, having spent seven years with Oracle before his departure from the organisation in October 2005. Reynolds has held a number of board-level positions within the IT industry and is a strong advocate of local transformation and development.

Mohammed Varachia, CEO of Simeka BSG, says: "Reynolds will be joining ITQ (a division of Simeka BSG), a highly successful Oracle focused business unit delivering Java-based custom-developed solutions to this user community and one of the key Oracle technical partners in the country today. While Simeka BSG is already a successful player within the enterprise space, we believe that there are still many growth opportunities and we plan to capitalise on this. With this in mind, we are delighted to acquire the services of Kelvin Reynolds - a recognised specialist in the IT sector. Kelvin will be assisting us in expanding our offerings in the ERP and broader enterprise software space."

Reynolds says: "I was attracted to the solid structure of this group. Its black economic empowerment (BEE) platform is a major competitive advantage and the organisation holds an authentic positioning within the market. In addition, the company`s existing spectrum of products, services and solutions is well founded with a number of additional solutions being targeted for development."

Reynolds believes the local enterprise software market will continue to grow at a faster rate than European markets, partly due to the growth in the South African economy. Reynolds continues: "In addition to the economic upturn, corporates with significant existing ERP investments are now questioning historical returns on their software investments and looking for increased flexibility. These companies are concerned about vendor `lock-in` and costly upgrades and rightfully so. Successful companies will need to upgrade their business systems to stay competitive in the local and international marketplace and this is where Simeka will be offering solutions that will meet the needs of both Oracle and SAP application users."

"Simeka BSG`s offerings are well-aligned with international ICT trends," continues Varachia. "As a business, our key differentiator is the ability to guide our clients from strategy conception to solution implementation, offering ongoing maintenance and support. Therefore enlisting the knowledge of IT solution professionals such as Reynolds in our business stable ensures that we add to our already solid pool of expertise."

"I am extremely excited to be a part of an unashamedly proudly South African company and one that holds immense potential for future growth and development, not only of the business, but of its customers, partners and employees," concludes Reynolds.
