Oracle to share manufacturing vision

Oracle executives will share their manufacturing vision with the public on 25 January at a conference broadcast on US television.

"Oracle`s acquisition of other software vendors - including PeopleSoft, JD Edwards and G‑Log - raise questions among users about the future of these solutions, as well as the evolving nature of enterprise resources planning," says the site Manufacturing Business Technology.

The event will cover the following issues: what is happening to the acquired solutions, middleware flexibility for heterogeneous computing environments, manufacturing applications and service-oriented architectures, strategies for automotive, industrial, electronics, CPG, and other industries, and Oracle`s vision for next-generation enterprise solutions.

Series 2000 radio antenna released

New from Texas Instruments is the Series 2000 radio antenna. As an interface between a TI-RFID transponder and the data processing unit, it sends an energising signal to the transponder, modulates the RF signal to send data to the transponder, receives the identification signal, and processes it for digital decoding, writes ManufacturingIT.

"Together with the associated Remote Antenna Tuning Board, it allows the use of up to 120 meters of symmetrically shielded antenna cable between an antenna and the reader unit," the article states.

The system comprising the Series 2000 and the Remote Tuning Box enables them to be connected to antennas located at a distance of up to 120 meters.
