RFID keeps sushi moving
Blue C Sushi has implemented RFID from Intermec and business process technology from Microsoft to track its food and automatically calculate customers' bills, says PRWeb.
The system of Intermec RFID readers and antennas, Microsoft BizTalk RFID, and integrator Kikata's Ebisu Live Inventory Management software tracks food as it moves from the kitchen to customers.
The restaurant says the technology improves its understanding of what customers want, and what items are popular at particular times or on specific days of the week.
RFID secures exam papers
RFID and microtexting are just two of the new measures being introduced by Edexcel this summer to further increase the security of the examinations process in the UK, reports Learning Business.
"Incidents involving stolen papers are extremely rare, but the potential impact is massive. The logistics of re-issuing an alternative paper to schools and colleges around the country and re-training markers on the new paper are complicated, costly and could ultimately be detrimental to candidates," says Jerry Jarvis, Edexcel's Managing Director.
"We're doing a major trial of new techniques and technologies, with the aim of deterring potential thefts, enabling us to better identify the source of a lost or stolen paper, and reducing the threat of fake papers being sold to candidates."
Cardinal Health integrates RFID
Cardinal Health will integrate RFID technology into the operations of its Sacramento, pharmaceutical distribution centre, to prepare for California's pedigree legislation that will require all drugs distributed within the state to be tracked and traced as they move throughout the supply chain, says SDCExec.
The announcement is part of Cardinal Health's ongoing efforts to protect the safety and efficiency of the nation's drug supply, according to the company.
It comes just months after Cardinal Health shared the results of its RFID pilot programme, which was the healthcare industry's first end-to-end test of RFID in a real-world setting.
