Ricoh, IBM form alliance
Ricoh, a provider of digital office equipment, has formed a global alliance with IBM, states CBR Online.
The alliance is expected to provide customers with document services leveraging Ricoh and IBM's capabilities to address customers' business problems. As part of the alliance, the companies are expected to first launch a new Ricoh offering, Document Security and Management Services (DSMS), in the US.
The DSMS system helps customers improve their document workflow, security and compliance, while reducing the total cost of ownership of office equipment investment and advancing environmental sustainability practices.
D-Link offers surveillance
Network solutions provider D-Link has released an Internet-based surveillance product line - the network video recorders (NVR) - designed with advanced features and compact size to meet the camera monitoring needs of consumers, small office/home office users and SMEs, according to MSNBC.
The DNS-722-4 and DNS-726-4 are based on D-Link's two-bay network attached storage device technology. The Pro version works with D-Link as well as Axis, Sony and Panasonic network cameras.
Both are standalone serial ATA Raid NVRs that feature a security lock, 24/7 recording with a PC, friendly graphical user interface for multiple camera management and direct access for viewing live video or playing back recorded data through the Internet, from anywhere at anytime.
Broadcom unveils chipset
Broadcom, a provider of semiconductors for wired and wireless communications, has unveiled the DOCSIS 3.0/Euro-DOCSIS 3.0-based chipset with advanced line rate capabilities for next-generation cable modem termination systems (CMTS), according to PR Newswire.
The CMTS chipset works in conjunction with the Broadcom BCM3380 cable modem to provide a solution that enables interactive services over broadband cable services, with reverse path speeds up to 160Mbps and downstream speeds up to 400Mbps.
Among the early adopters of this technology is Cisco Systems, which plans to incorporate the solutions in its next-generation CMTS equipment.
