Rittal, Siemens present integrated power distribution solution

Rittal and Siemens want to work together in fitting data centres with electro-technical equipment. At CeBIT, the two companies announced a power distribution solution that employs Siemens busbar distributor systems in Rittal's live data centres.

A reliable power supply is vital for business, especially for data centres. Busbar distribution systems are therefore increasingly used for low-voltage power distribution in high-performance data centres, since they have a lower fire load and a greater reliability than cables. In addition, they can be adapted to changing requirements in a much more flexible and less costly way, during alterations and extensions, for example.

In the context of their co-operation, Rittal and Siemens are guaranteeing the compatibility of the Siemens Sivacon LD and BD2 busbar distribution systems with the Rittal Ri4Power low-voltage power distribution system in data centre applications.

"The Siemens and Rittal product ranges complement each other perfectly in the field of data centre infrastructure. In addition, the co-operation of two world market leaders means real added value for the customer," Christoph Caselitz, Chief of Customer Operations at Rittal, explained.

Niels Geduldig, Head of the Business Segment Distribution Systems in the Siemens Low Voltage Business Unit, added: "Operators of data centres now have a consistent, proven and certified solution that allows completely safe and flexible power distribution."

The Low and Medium Voltage Division of the Siemens Infrastructure & Cities Sector offers an extensive portfolio of products and systems - from energy supply and distribution products to personnel, fire and line protection. The Sivacon series of busbar distribution systems includes systems ranging from 25A through to 6 300A. A system provider, Rittal links technical infrastructure with an ideally co-ordinated system solution.
