You will no doubt agree that the last 12 months have been, at best, very interesting. With the global markets in disarray, political changes in South Africa and economic pressure on all fronts, businesses everywhere are finding it more challenging to grow, or even maintain, their markets.
For Roan Systems, the past 12 months have been most interesting. The company kicked off in October last year with the opening of its Port Elizabeth office, and it has seen solid growth in this office's customer base and product range since.
Come April and Roan Systems again announced a major international tie-up. In line with modern market requirements, Roan increased its range of RFID offerings, by adding the Sirit range of RFID products to its offering. Sirit is a major global RFID player and its range of hardware and solutions are used by clients as disparate as the US Defence Force and local farmers, who wish to invisibly tag and track their livestock. Sirit is a major supplier of RFID-related readers, tags and software.
In May, Roan further emphasised its intent to broaden its offering when Brady approved Roan to become an authorised Brady Repair Centre (BARC). As the only BARC in southern Africa, Roan has the ability to supply, service and maintain the full range of Brady equipment, which range from high performance label printers to printers for the marking of pipes, cable and signs.
In July, Roan celebrated the month with the announcement that it was chosen to supply and fully support the novel Blue Print Solution MFP and Toshiba copier range. Again, Roan was chosen as an accredited service centre for the full new range of products.
Also in July, Roan announced that the TrenStar Group purchased a controlling stake in Roan and its sister companies, Roan Safety Products and The Printer Distribution Company. Billed as a merger of capabilities, Roan and supply chain solution company TrenStar, can now offer customers an end-to-end solution inclusive of engineering support and flexible financing.
Most recently, at the start of September Roan Systems and printer specialists Zebra announced that Roan has successfully passed all training and quality gates to become a specialised Zebra Authorised Service Partner (ZASP). Zebra is well known for its range of customised and mobile printers, including the world's first mobile RFID label-printer. As a ZASP, Roan can boast that its service centre and skills base is of the highest international standards, which is indeed beneficial for all brands that it supplies and supports.
Roan Systems increased its product range substantially to include, and of course support, the Impinj and Bluebird range of RFID products. Impinj is currently the largest manufacturer of silicone in the world and its radio frequency identification products (RFID) are considered some of the most advanced on the market.
In closing, Roan is adamant that it is not about to sit back and relax. In response to customer demands, and as a cherry on top for a busy 12 months starting October last year, Roan has opened an office in Nelspruit, which will soon offer the same high quality service to customers in the Northern regions of South Africa, as in Gauteng (Johannesburg), the Western Cape (Cape Town), KwaZulu-Natal (Durban) and the Eastern Cape (Port Elizabeth).
Roan sells and supports most brands of printers and is a partner or an authorised warranty and support company for Printronix, OKI, AMT-Datasouth, Brady, Sirit RFID, Psi, Zebra, Microplex, Impinj, Motorola, Xerox, Toshiba, TallyGenicom, Bluebird RFID handheld readers and Psion Teklogix scanners.
We would like to thank our customers for allowing us to share our journey with them. We hope that you will find our ever-expanding range of products and services a clear sign that Roan is responsive and able to meet your unique needs.
