Rocket Software purchases data-backup company Servergraph

Johannesburg, 26 May 2005

SecureData, a member of the JSE-listed ERP.com Group and the southern African distributor for Rocket Software, today announced that it has acquired Servergraph, Inc, a Texas company that develops reporting and analysis software for data-backup.

The firm will continue to function as a business unit within Rocket headed by Servergraph CEO Mark Roberts, and plans to expand its employee base in Austin as a result of the acquisition.

Servergraph has doubled its revenues every year since its founding in 1999, and the company's storage management applications are currently used by nearly 200 Global 2000 companies. The total value of the deal is expected to be $10 million.

Servergraph develops powerful, flexible and highly scalable Web-based storage management applications. The Servergraph Product Suite provides proactive management and automation for backup and recovery - graphing and powerful drill-down tools for quick problem isolation, performance tuning, and billing by application or cost centre - all from a single Web-based console.

"We were looking for an infusion of capital, and Rocket Software gave us the perfect opportunity to grow our business organically, increase the size of our staff, and develop new products within the framework of a dynamic, entrepreneurial company," according to Roberts. "At the same time, we are looking forward to integrating Servergraph products with Rocket's other storage products and expanding our reach into their existing global customer base."

Andy Youniss, CEO of Rocket Software, says the acquisition is ideal for both companies. "We have a strong presence in the storage space, and the purchase of Servergraph will allow us to expand our presence in this critically important field by integrating their software into our product offering. At the same time, we are providing strong financial support that will allow Servergraph to continue to develop excellent data-backup products as part of the Rocket family."
